Ok, that sounds like a tremendous pain in the waste disposal chute. Well, I hope if there is an update, you or TAG will let us know so we can update our copies.

Sooo looking forward to the next book.

Well, that's one bard that knows how to get a-head in this world.

Very deep voice for such a skinny person. That plus glowing red eyes makes me suspect, at a minimum, demonic possession.

Hey Tizzy

Just doing my periodic check in which I havn't done for ages. I checked out astlan.org but it wouldn't loadanything so I guess we're still using this one.

I take it we're still nowhere near beta time for Book 4 or Into the Wilds?

I was hoping for some cheer up after all the Covid crap!

Hope you and TAG are well.

Lots of Love,

Ben

Yeah, that beta side had a server crash last year and had to be migrated and the WP sites etc are screwed up and T-A-G has not gotten around to fixing it.

On the brighter side, OOA is actually progressing and "should" go to beta this summer for release this year.

So that's something.

There has been some, minor, movement on Book IV itself as well.

Well, he could certainly do a better job communicating with me.

I hover over his head pretty much all day and night asking him when he's going to be done, and he just keeps telling me he keeps getting distracted.

Distracted by what? I'd like to know. I don't see him doing much and I'm hovering there and talking to him around the clock these days and I haven't noticed anything to distract him.

On book 4? Not really.

On OOA:ITN, still planning to go to beta next month. I think signup will start next week.

I'm just vacillating a bit on the "ending"

My dear sir! I want you aware that I do so very much hope that Doom's Day will one day arrive!

Do not take this as the bleating of one speaking from that ridiculous entitlement that those that are foppish or of particularly low breeding might display. Indeed, you hear from one well aware of his own tendency towards sloth outside of forced work insisted upon by an accursed master!

But your work on this labor of love has been appreciated.

I was just wondering if you have a better estimate for when the beta reading will likely start?
From a post 6 months ago you wrote it was likely to be about 6 months - now you are in a better position to gauge, can you make another approximation?
It is not my intention to make you feel like I am placing demands upon your good self - I am just enquiring with no expectations
Also will we be required to sign up for the beta testing again - or will existing beta readers (who have a Betabooks account) automatically be invited?
Cheers

For some reason, when I finish a book, I am always seriously overly optimistic about the next one.

I think it's because I'm riding on some sort of 'high' from getting the book out, and that period of lots of dedicated work, and I assume that I can keep that pace up. Ignoring day job reality.

After book iii, I was thinking of even doing alpha demoning with the live book once I got like half way through....well that would have been a tedious experience for people.

Although I do think the 6 months estimate after OOA was an "at the earliest it could possibly be" sort of thing.

Anyway, after OOA, I made good progress through the spring, and then my day job went crazy during the summer, which is usually a slow period for me. My busiest time is generally October to December, nearing a 'year end'

So, I lost momentum during the summer and did not get as far as I wanted.

I am hoping to use the upcoming weekend to kick myself back into gear, although I am thinking November to December is going to be bad with day job and holidays, so realistically, the soonest for beta will probably be January, and maybe March.

Sorry....

No need to be sorry T.A.G
Even if you get to March and have to put it back again, that can't be helped.
I'm just looking forward to (beta)reading it (and assuming it's the same for everyone else on this forum!) when you are ready
Thanks for the update

Better take your time and write a book you can be proud of then just get it out and realizing to late that things dont work this way in regards to the next books. Your story feels really unique to me, the effort going into it shows. Its fun, engaging and I will wait 10 years if I have to to get the final book of this epic saga!

Thanks!

I am trying to avoid the James Cameron Avatar sequel and GRRM holes but....

Things are getting there, the problem with Book IV is that there are just so many plots to tie out and keeping track of continuity, where they plotlines go/mix get's complicated.

As I've said on books 2 and 3 I took 9 months off, trying to do it while working really slows things down since getting concentrated time can be hard.

We all understand! It was really hard after I read Apostles of Doom for the first time (in the week after it came out?), because I couldnt wait to find out what going to happen next >.<
It can be painful to wait but you didnt disappoint us yet ^^
(Oak Orks of the Antilles: Into the Night really took a load of my mind because it showed me that you are still going and thats all we can ask for)
